Chef Michael Harper started his career as the first American graduate with a full apprenticeship from Westminster Technical College in London, England. He became one of "America's Top Ten Young Chefs" in the National Restaurant News. He has had the opportunity to work with several of the world's top chefs including Chef Geared Vie at Le Tories March in Versailles, France, Chef Michael Gerard at Engine La Bain's and Chef Alan Chapel at Mondovi Vineyard in Oakdale, California.
Chef Harper has worked in the industry for three decades in four or five star hotels. These fine hotels include the likes of: The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, the Ocean Club Resort and Spa and the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort in Miami. Chef Harper was also the Executive Chef for the Fisher Island Club and Resort in Miami, one of the world's premier private club resorts.
At Wildside Caterers, Chef Harper led the culinary team of the Xcel Energy Center through major events like the 2004 NHL All Star Week and the 2008 Republican National Convention. His team received the highest rankings for Arena Food Service in North America for six years!
Chef Harper has also overseen the culinary operations of The Saint Paul Hotel, The Saint Paul Grill, and Tria Restaurant. Chef Harper has joined Mendakota after opening the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest. Overseeing the transition from the Northland Inn to the Marriott Northwest, the hotel scored first in Guest Satisfaction Surveys for twenty-one weeks straight. He is a hands-on Chef who is passionate about his work.
