Junior Golf

Mendakota Junior Golf Program:

The purpose of our Junior Golf Program is to expose our club’s future members to the game of golf by offering the highest level of instruction (swing, rules and etiquette), rewarding accomplishment and participation, and by providing a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for our junior members.

Junior Golf Camp:

Introducing our young golfers to the proper fundamentals is critical in their development as golfers. Junior Golf Camp is a great way to kick off the season, giving them the opportunity to develop and practice the skills they will use for a lifetime… All while getting to know their peers at Mendakota.

Our Junior Golf Camp is held two mornings in June, with four fun skills stations: putting, chipping, sand and full swing. The second day of instruction is followed by prizes and lunch.

Junior Camp is also offered for our younger junior players ages 4-7 through the Start New at Golf (SNAG) program. The SNAG teaching program is the leading teaching system for The First Tee Junior Golf Program and provides an excellent introduction to golf in a safe and fun manner using oversized clubs, tennis balls and Velcro targets.

Junior League Play Days:

Juniors are encouraged to participate in Junior Golf Wednesday mornings, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the game with fellow Mendakota juniors, hone their skills and receive further instruction. Prior to a round of 4, 9 or 18 holes with their peers (depending on age and ability), junior players start with a mini-lesson from our Professional Golf staff addressing fundamentals, rules and etiquette. The Junior Golf season culminates with a Junior Club Championship in mid-August. Trophies are awarded to each of 4, 9 and 18 hole champions.
